Contains incoming correspondence, 1897-1960; shuttle patent specifications; notes on shuttle manufacturing; and minutes, correspondence, etc. about the American Shuttle Assoc. Also contains monthly bank statements, 1907-1913; and a check register, 1898-1904. Purchasing records include invoices to Dudley, 1895-1924, for stock, parts, and services needed to run the operation. Sales records contain orders to Dudley, 1906-1961, with a gap between 1932 and 1954. A small group of production records includes an inventory labeled: machine shop and wood shop; information about shuttles manufactured, 1927, and blocks used, 1926-1927; and miscellaneous shuttle information.

D.T. Dudley & Son Company, located in Wilkinsonville, a part of Sutton, Mass., was a manufacturer of shuttles for power looms. Tracing its founding to 1825, it had several owners and partners before being acquired in 1867 by David T. Dudley and his son, Henry T. Dudley. In 1893 control of the company passed from the Dudleys; in 1894, the company was chartered by the Commonwealth of Mass. and Charles H. Norcross and Louis E. Chase became majority stockholders.
